Founded in 2004, the Red Scarf Society for the Performing Arts is a nonprofit arts organization based in Yreka, California dedicated to enriching the cultural life of Siskiyou County through music and the performing arts.

For more than two decades, Red Scarf has partnered with the historic Yreka Community Theater to present concerts, touring performers, classical artists, and unique musical experiences for audiences throughout Northern California.

Through the dedication of volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community partners, the organization continues to bring nationally recognized performers and inspiring artistic programs to the region while keeping live performance accessible to local audiences.

Our Mission

  • Enhance the cultural life of Siskiyou County by presenting high-quality concerts and performing arts events.
  • Support the historic Yreka Community Theater and its continued role as a cultural gathering place for the community.
  • Provide educational outreach programs and musical experiences for students throughout Siskiyou County.
  • Raise funds that support performances, arts programming, and cultural projects that benefit the community.

Educational Outreach

Educational outreach is an important and rewarding part of Red Scarf Society’s mission. Each year the organization partners with performers and schools across Siskiyou County to bring live music and educational programs directly to students.

These concerts and workshops allow young audiences to experience professional musicians in person, creating memorable moments that encourage creativity and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Outreach programs are made possible through generous grants, donations, and sponsorships from community members who support arts education throughout the region.
